Scott's Quotes

Welcome to my Dreamworlds - Scott Augutis
Up

These are basically "my quotations"
 - some you'll find are altered regurgitations from things I may have heard as a child...
- others are just excerpts from my ranting and raving as an adult...
but none were directly copied from anywhere.

I want to be different - just like everybody else.

There's a lot to be said about improving one's self through life
And where would we be without a little compromise once in a while?
But if the goals you've achieved and the person you've become to achieve them
Bare little resemblance to who you once were and what you initially set out to do

What have you really accomplished for yourself?

Your perfect match was probably the person you blew off while you were chasing the one who just dumped you.

Time flies whether you're having fun or not.

Stargate SG-1 is the greatest show of all time.

3/1/08
The forth dimension is time.
The fifth dimension is the Megaverse - where our Universe is just one...
of an infinite number of Universes that vary from all the others by only an infinitesimal amount of space-time.

The sixth dimension is where the possibilities of any Universe can be expressed while still remaining in any one singular Universe.
In dreams we may be experience the sixth dimensional aspects of our total singular being.

If it ain't broke, don't break it !

04/04/08

Soon the power of the people - of the economy, business and open communication and creation -
will completely squelch out the need for current politics
Politics as we know it will operate in the sidelines as a showpiece or spectacle of times gone by
much as some Monarchies do now, but with far less fame and wealth.

The children with their text messages, ipods and internet expertise
the same ones Jay Leno likes to make fun of
will operate at a level that will make those of the old ways appear to be standing still

Why are the best news shows on the comedy channel?

There's always a bigger picture.

Someone recently told me to be myself
Maybe just not so much
.

4/19/08
The day is rapidly approaching where hyperactivity and attention deficiency...
what was I saying?
Will no longer be classified as disorders requiring counseling or medication
But will be The Norm.  And eventually will be a necessity.

3/22/08
As soon as you think you know the meaning of life or what's truly important about it
You've ruined it's very essence.

3/22/08
it should be illegal for Rock and Shell pits to ban collectors from hunting there.
Every day they crush fossils valuable to science and collectors to make roads and other fill.

The very idea that this happens amazes me.

3/16/08
When my brothers or my close friends succeed, I succeed.
There is no jealousy among brothers.

3/16/08
There is no God left in religion.

3/16/08
Whether I succeed or fail in this life, I will still be a unique and powerful being as I walk this planet.

I can paint like Salvador Dali, Write and Sing like Jim Morrison and Theorize like Albert Einstein.

I am an artist, a physicist, a writer, a poet, a body builder, a collector, an architect, a philosopher
a psychologist, a paleontologist, a photographer, a comedian, a singer, a musician, a thinker
an arbitrator, a teacher, a nutritionist, a trend setter, a dreamer, an inventor, a designer, a public speaker
an explorer, a telekinetic, an athlete, a leader and a good friend

I am compassionate, sensual, sexual, creative, lucid, considerate, understanding, conservative, liberal, energetic
dynamic, conversational and empathic.

I am too often sad and often question my own worth, but the truths in the list above still exist.

2/28/08
Why are people so surprised to find that ancient humans had amazing technologies

They were just like us - just a few hundred generations removed.

I wouldn't be surprised to find that they knew much that we are yet to rediscover.

Look how far we have come in just the last 50 years.

We may not be the first generation of humans to leave the planet

2/25/08
The mundane is no less fantastic.

3/14/08
What really disgusts me is when a girl I consider exceptional - who has considered me by-passable,
Subsequently soils herself on a scumbag because she was being obviously careless.
And doesn't even have the decency to be discrete about it.

Then years later lets herself go completely
And when she feels even the scumbags won't have her
Comes looking, only then, for me.

3/2/08
Should I be happy that people are paying a fraction of what they owe
in Federal Income tax or credit card debt
When I am paying all of mine?

2/21/08
Why do you need a purpose?
Why do you need the validation and acceptance of others?
Why do you need a creator who is similar in appearance to you?
Why do you need to confess your wrong doings?
Why do you relinquish responsibility for your decisions and actions to a higher power?
Do you?
Why?

Popular Nerd Slang

"The totality is sanctimonious."

"I am in possession of the deficiency."

"That excrement is ludicrous."

I'll see it when I believe it

Political Science is an Oxymoron.

Want to reduce green house gases?  It's very easy.  Plant a tree.

4/19/08
I saw a single ant walking on the floor this morning and I started thinking again on whether an ant is really a singular organism
or just something like a cell in our body - a part of the whole.

I started thinking again about independent thought.
Was the ant thinking about what it would do next or just following a programmed response pattern?
If it was killed, would another just arrive to complete the task at hand?
Then it started walking in an erratic closed loop - repeating a few times - and I wasn't sure why.

I started thinking how interesting it was that I was thinking about this process.
I started feeling, for the first time in some time, that perhaps we humans do have independent thought,
because I was thinking on these things which had little to do with my present needs or chores.
I must be able to select my own thoughts since no internal drive would have caused my mind to arrive at such things.

Then I remembered that the whole thing started when...

I saw a single ant walking on the floor this morning.

The most amazing mysteries in the Universe
Are not yet even apparent.

2/25/08
It seems that no car insurance companies take care of their existing customers.
How else can you explain that each major company has a list of the others' former customers
who they have saved hundreds of dollars on their car insurance.

(I've been waiting to put this one on - until I saw enough companies' ads)

2/21/08
There is a philosophical concept where the possibility exists
that all we know is just a construct of one mind - maybe my mind - or yours.

If one day I find that my whole life has been a fabrication of my own mind
I will be proud and amazed to have constructed such a rich, complex and beautiful Universe

But then I will question my amazement as I will at that very moment also no longer have a frame of reference.
Nothing to compare this amazing world to.
And I will wonder if it is truly amazing when compared with other Universes that may or may not exist.

And I can only hope that I will continue to be amazed even if I never know for sure.
As no matter how our Universe came to be
It is certainly an incredible one - of infinite potential and beauty

Imagine living in a Universe where the possibility of something new is non-existent.

The solution to all of our problems as a nation:

1) Put term limits on all political offices

2) Put a cap on office salaries of $100,000
                               a) to bring in people who really want to serve their country
                                                b) to cut costs where they really should be cut - not schools and safety

3) Institute a flat tax for all income over $50,000
                              a) remove all other taxes including registrations and license fees
                                                               b) the government must work within these limits and must be accountable to the people
                                                   c) Reveal budgets so all Americans can decide where the money is most needed

4) Put a cap on the total amount that a candidate can accept when running for an office
    a) An election should not be a battle of money and charisma
                      b) It should be a display of values, intelligence, communication, consideration and understanding

5) Remove all delegates, especially super delegates
a) One person one vote.
    b) If voter's need more information, teach them.

6) Remove inhibitors of free trade and competition

a) the economy will balance automatically
                          b) attempts at control are merely illusory and promote laziness

7) Make laws based on the norm, not the exception
a) focus on reform, not punishment
                                                                   b) Work toward removing laws, not adding them  - Simplify

8) Develop a means for detecting nuclear fuel from space
                                      a) Elect three countries to independently monitor the Earth for nuclear weapons

                                                 b) Two large countries and one small should manage locating and destroying any found

Oftentimes putting too much emphasis on not making the same mistake again...
can itself become the next, even bigger mistake.

1/29/08
Did anyone complain when Cyano-bacteria converted our atmosphere to one rich in Oxygen?

2/21/08
Denial is the most predictable of all human responses.
No, it's not.

Having sex doesn't necessarily change a relationship,
but it does reveal the true nature of that relationship.

I can't tell you how many times I put aside some money for a fancy dinner...
Bought flowers, cheese and crackers, some fruit and a nice bottle of wine to start.
Only to get the call - or sometimes no call at all - no answer either

And for what seemed like the longest time...

Instead of reaching into the box, I would pour a few crackers into my hand to eat
Trying to keep the others untouched for the guest who was never coming

In a few days, the carefully selected array of appetizers and drink - was gone
and eventually I would spend the money on something else

Of course there have been many times in my years when things went very well

But these happenings - these painful disappointments - they always seemed so sad - and they hurt deeply
I would wonder how she spent the time we had planned to spend together
Was it something more interesting, more fun, more challenging?

Did she feel her alternate plans were worth it?  Did she make the right decision?

After a while, the whole potential evening I had imagined in my mind - of conversation and laughter
would pass quietly from my memory

In time - piecing together my self confidence, I would put aside some money...

And then try it all over again - all too often to the same result.

All I wanted was one date - just a chance to see if we clicked - or even just a fun evening - something.

My list of evenings that 'could have been' is way too long.

Guys have feelings too.

Life isn't fair, but people should strive to be.

A lot of artists are a little weird.
But just being weird, doesn't necessarily make you an artist.

The back of the lane reflectors on I-95 shine red
But if someone is so oblivious or disoriented as to enter a highway going the wrong way,
Does someone really think they will notice little red reflectors?
Oncoming traffic should be enough of a clue.

Money well spent.

Sometimes the harder you try to be taken seriously, the more you end up looking like an idiot.

Anyone who thinks SNL was only good in the 70's
has probably not watched it since then - if ever.

12/8/07
You never know about girls...
Sometimes they almost force you to say one thing...
When what they really wanted to hear was something totally different
that is often very close to what you were going to say in the first place

It's no wonder most guys don't understand them - that's their intention.

2/10/08
I have faith in myself.
I have faith in the behaviors and skills of my close friends and family.

I have no faith in the beliefs of those I do not know.
For in the end, all on this planet know not where their beliefs truly came from.

Consider your own beliefs - most were taught to you by others
You cannot claim ownership of them - neither can those imparting the information to you.
While it is true that knowledge can be passed through time accurately
Knowledge without proof can lead to manipulation.

It concerns me greatly when people choose a religious faith too lightly
just the fact that there are so many religions make me wonder
and that people feel so strongly about often very small deviations between them makes me nervous.
I believe choosing your beliefs should be a very personal exercise in introspection - not coerced in any way.

Faith itself is powerful and with it we can transform reality.
But it is the faith itself that makes things real, it need not be attached to anyone's past beliefs

or to anything at all

Have faith in yourself.

I was corresponding with someone over the internet for a time.
After a while the subject of trust was raised.

I told her I could have no trust in her yet
as She was merely words on a page.

She was insulted and we never spoke again.

I still wonder if she was even a real person at all.

Most likely just a long, drawn out and complicated delivery mechanism for some impending scam.

11/9/07
I wish they made a pill that would help me get a date.

2/10/08
Science is just an interpretation of the magic.

11/12/07
Almost any idea is a good idea if enough people get behind it.

11/4/07
I can't believe we still classify people based primarily on their financial wealth
If anything, I've often noticed an inversely proportional relationship between wealth and "Class" - especially lately

12/11/07
Imagine if you were afraid you would hurt yourself if you went outside
So you made a pill that kept you inside
Or you found that you made a lot of mistakes in life
So you made a pill that would tie your hands behind your back

Today's medicine is often just as stupid

For example, instead of figuring out why patients with psoriasis have an immune system that attacks their own bodies
Our researchers find a way to suppress their immune systems - they need their immune systems

Why do our scientists reach such insane conclusions time after time
Often when there are natural cures that continue to be ignored by the mainstream

Is it just money that drives them down the wrong path every time or is it something else?

Every year people donate millions to the American Cancer Society
And still the most common "cures" are cut it out, radiate the body or poison the body and hope the cancer dies first

Every day each of us has cancer cells in our body and each day we kill them
Our bodies are designed to kill cancer very efficiently
In fact, no doctor has ever cured any cancer, it is always the body that does it.

Think about returning our bodies to their natural state
Instead of pushing them farther away.

Our current medical practices work for emergencies - but little else

What box?

The cool thing about humans - is that there are so many ways to be a human

9/26/07
Since about 50% of the electricity used in America is from the burning of coal...
Are electric and hybrid cars really as green as people think?

The hybrids are better unless you have the kind you have to plug in.
Burning coal produces more CO2 and toxins than burning petroleum.

I'm not a radical environmentalist, but I do love my planet.
And I'm all for wind power, but how much do those huge things cost?

Perception is reality.

If the system doesn't work...
people will work around the system.

Most people live their lives constrained by a web of common misconceptions

The problem with following the rules and being honest is that
often you are competing with people who aren't.

Oftentimes what appears to be the cause...
is actually the result

Some people who think they are "The Sh!t"
are only half right.

Journeys in life are often like mazes -
it's seldom immediately apparent if you're making the right choices or not.

08/14/07

Why are we partaking in archaic battles with weapons and young lives?

When the real war is happening quietly - right under our noses - as other countries slowly buy up American land and businesses.

08/14/07

Shouldn't we be trying to understand the reasons why we are so hated as a country and try to fix those things?

Instead of hunting down the people who hate us - people who are not afraid to die, will never give up and will soon have their finger on the button.

If almost counted for anything, my life would be three times as good.

10/18/07
Don't ever be afraid to bring a child into this world
it's no more dangerous than it's ever been
And what if they would have made a positive difference?

Don't believe statistics.
90% of statistics used in the media are designed to irresponsibly manipulate your beliefs
And 75% are either inaccurate, used improperly or are completely made up ...  like these.
But I'm not trying to sell you anything.
I'm just hoping you'll be careful and not believe everything you hear

The odds of a child being diagnosed with Autism  -  1 in 166
The odds of a child being correctly diagnosed with Autism - 1 in ?

They say insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results
I think they would feel differently if they were to use a computer these days.

11/4/07
I'm wondering - with the number of independently wealthy people today, the number of people with just high levels of expendable cash
and the amount of money pouring in daily from foreign investors...

if the risk of a Recession in America is really much of a concern.

Is it possible to achieve a level of economy that moves on through it's own shear volume and momentum?
Or through the force of only it's biggest players?

Despite the trouble and worries of the many "financially average" citizens.

A tiny change in your present can make a huge difference to your future

Television is no longer a relaxing and entertaining medium, it's a constant barrage of worry about finances, loans, death and disease
The pharmaceutical companies and the banks have caused me to seriously consider watching everything on DVD

Business Today:
If you think things are working,
You probably have no idea what's going on

If you think people are generally happy
You are one of the people they are lying to.

11/02/07
Considering the people today who are labeled successful and the people who become president or otherwise famous,
I'm seriously re-evaluating my notions of what is really important in life.

10/21/07
I don't have any hobbies
The artwork I create, the photographs I take and the rocks and fossils I find and collect
are so much a part of who I am

It would cheapen the experiences to call them mere hobbies

09/26/07
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the reason that drugs are cheaper in Canada
is because the drug companies can offer them price discounts because they charge us so much in The States.
If we start buying our drugs up there, then the differential will be removed and Canadian prices will just go up.

It's like watering your lawn with your neighbor's hose
It only works until they find out.

The "suggestions" of Physics

(They are no more timeless or constant than waves on the ocean)

I'm surprised how many science based shows use the term light-year incorrectly.

The five greatest inventions of recent times (for me):
1) The Internet
2) ATM Debit cards
3) Portable Memory - Flash Drives etc.
4) Virtual Media and it's Conduits - MP3s, DVRs etc.
5) Home Equity Lines of Credit

9/30/07
When I started college in 1983, I was going to add Bio-Chemistry to my Physics studies
With the sole intention of bringing back the dinosaurs
Many random events later, I was on a different path
Then the movie Jurassic Park tried to make me believe it would have been a bad idea anyway.
But we humans have killed off more species than I care to accept

We would have nothing to fear from Dinosaurs now
Maybe thousands of years ago, but not now
We, with no claws or sharp teeth and with our soft skin and "humane" ways
We are the ones to fear

When you remove all doubt, there is no longer any need for it.

Realists are living in a fantasy world.

11/4/07
The decision to go forward with Stem Cell Research should not be decided by government or church
They should only be concerned that the research is done ethically and safely - like any other research.
It's not a black and white decision - there is a way to move forward without scaring anyone.
And it is not playing God - it is merely working with what God has already provided.
If anyone ever creates a human being from scratch in the blink of an eye - that will be impressive.

Why are they looking to raise taxes to pay for the repair and maintenance

of 73,000 bridges across the country?

Shouldn't responsible city planners already have a plan for them?

Did they honestly think the bridges would last forever?

08/20/07

If girls had better taste in men, I'd probably get more dates.

11/4/07
Why can't women remember to put the seat back up when they're finished?   It's just common courtesy.
-   I know...  I just couldn't resist  : )   -

-  I put the seat down...      and change the roll -

3/4/08
Why do they cut education, healthcare and safety first?
Are they punishing us for wanting lower taxes?

A Government of the people, by the people, for the people - my ass.
Are our representatives serving their country?  Or their own selfish needs?
I never hear of salary cuts for elected officials to ease the suffering or balance the budget.

Today we are almost forced to vote - even though we truly carry little weight.
Voting is just a vehicle to provide us with a false sense of participation in our own fate.
Someone fears the public is waking up - and they are scared.
Or worse, "they" are stripping away our freedoms without even realizing it.

What happened to my America - I want it back.
I want to be proud again.

Look around, all our houses look the same, our cities look the same, we all work in our little corporate cubicles.
Is America drifting toward a type of society we have always despised?   A few steps up with bread lines that look different?
Most of us take our paychecks, go to the gas station and then to the grocery store and then wait for the next check.
Bound by utility bills, taxes on taxes, confusing tax laws, a complicated and archaic legal system and other constraints - are we really still free?

At the same time, individuality is at it's maximum and the Internet is uniting us.
I hope we are nearing a new awakening.

How many days of joy constitute a happy life?
... At least one ...
okay... probably more than one.

If companies like airlines and toy manufacturers can't put funds toward safety...

Can we really be surprised when stockholders, happy with their earnings per share...

are inadvertently killed by the very companies that sacrificed safety for the bottom line that created those "profits"?

08/22/07

There are many ways to go through life.
Find one that makes you happy
And do it that way.

Because in the end, no matter what you believe
or what other people think or say
If YOU aren't happy with what you did
What difference does anything else really make?

An easy way for the Treasury to make different denominations of paper money distinguishable to the blind
Would be to stamp the bills with raised Roman numerals:
 1 - I, 5 - V, 10 - X, 20 - XX, 50 - L, 100 - C, 500 - D and 1000 - M
Two points: Existing bills could be modified and
Two numerals or less would handle all commonly used denominations.

Of course, people could illegally stamp bills...
but hopefully few will be so horrid as to take advantage of the blind

12/06/06

Why do I have to keep watching commercials that tell me to ask my doctor about a medication...
but they don't tell me what the medication is for...
and all the side effects seem to be the same as anti-depressant medications or worse...

and then six months later I have to watch commercials from lawyers...
who tell me that anyone who took the medication...
might have a case against the pharmaceutical company...
especially anyone who experienced fatal incidents, heart failure or death...
(amazing how dead people can file law suits - and how they try to disguise "death")

And then another new medication comes out in a few months ...
And people actually take it !
03/20/07

11/9/07
Don't feel sorry for Pharmaceutical companies who claim they have to recoup the millions they have spent on research
The research isn't to find a new drug
It's to closely mimic an existing natural chemical so they can apply for a patent
You can't patent natural chemicals

The natural chemicals don't come with side effects - because they are compatible with our bodies
The companies aren't skilled or concerned enough to actually create an effective duplicate
But they still charge us ridiculous prices and continue to poison us with their cheap imitations

They also do all they can to get natural solutions off the market or attempt to hide them from the populous

What a scam!

Make decisions based on the norm, not the exception

If life was easy, everybody would be doing it.

Addiction is not a disease, it is a symptom of the true disease -
which is likely a deficiency of the "I feel okay" neurotransmitter - Serotonin
I'm lucky my addiction is just collecting dinosaur teeth.

If you choose to do something
Do it right, do it completely and don't let anything stop you
Because in life, you don't always get partial credit
and it's not always the thought that counts

I am an actor in life - and without an audience
I lose interest in my performance.
They say you should do things in life for yourself, not for others - but I disagree
It's only half the fun.

Sometimes the magic happens in the way you least expected

I choose my words very carefully
and try to express my thoughts clearly and completely

It's up to you to properly misinterpret them  : )

True power is not the ability to control others
But the ability to remove the control that others have on us

Influence is not necessary
When inspiration drives us

Sometimes I feel like a rabbit strapped to the back of a turtle...
No matter how fast I kick my legs, I still don't feel like I'm getting anywhere

Don't let yesterday or tomorrow screw up today

It looks like we can't trust the leaders of our countries,
the leaders of our churches or the leaders of our companies.
I know we're only human, but have a little integrity at least.
I'm very disappointed with some members of my species.

Are these incidents from a small group of degenerates or does it happen all the time in secrecy
I have a feeling we are looking at the tip of a very large ice burg

I meet good people every day, but they seem to be struggling while
others just waste what they have been given - something needs to change.

We need to grow up.

Why do I have to type my account number into the phone
and then tell it to the customer service rep when they pick up?

If I wanted to go inside to get my receipt
I wouldn't have put my card in at the pump

Sometimes when a manager calls me to a shorter check out line at the food store
I don't get to flirt with the cute girl running the line I was just in
- thanks for nothing, fast is not always best  : )

The more people I meet, the less weird I think I am.

I will laugh...
When the guy with the leased sports car and the jaw and pec implants
marries the girl with the pedigree puppy and the lip and breast implants
and they have a stupid, ugly baby.
I'm Sorry, but I will laugh.

Money is wasted on the rich
Free time is wasted on the uninspired
Beauty is wasted on the uninterested
Don't waste

10/27/07
Every year we employees receive our rating score - usually something degrading or cold and innocuous like meets expectations
Don't get me started on how unrealistic those expectations can be.
Or if performance really has anything at all to do with the score in the first place.

I wish we could score the performance of our company each year with respect to our expectations
Companies are judged externally on items that don't necessarily have an effect on the individual employee.

Right now, our only recourse is to leave...
to arrive at a company that is just the same - or worse

How often have you found yourself repeatedly looking in the refrigerator ...
only to find nothing
And probably never realizing that you weren't really ever hungry for food at all.

Those with loud voices who are quick to anger often end up winning
arguments despite their complete lack of understanding of the topic.

Life is often like sweeping
If you're not doing it right you can exert a lot of energy and do very little
If you are doing it right, the wind you create will continue to make a difference
long after you have stopped moving the broom

Cleaning is therapeutic - as you can actually see the difference you've just made

If you take sh!t, people will give it to you
If you don't give a sh!t, people will find you more intriguing

Courage is not running fearlessly into an impossible situation
It is enduring necessary dangers despite your fear

I often feel like an ice burg - being judged only for what's above the water

The fact that my way differs from yours in no way implies
that you are right and I am wrong.

I speak to God all the time - he's probably tired of hearing from me

Why do religion and science have to be mutually exclusive?

Why couldn't God have created creatures who are designed to evolve?

It's like the whole Birds from Dinosaurs controversy...
The truth is probably a complex interwoven combination of all outstanding theories and more.
Do you honestly think 100 million years of change can be summed up in one linear path?

I love the Fish / Darwin symbols - have you noticed how the symbols have evolved over time?

2/7/07

What if God is an alien who evolved in another Universe and eventually created our Universe?

Is it really so hard to fathom... if we survive as a species...
That we may one day have the ability to create and monitor a new universe of our own?
Look how far we have come in just the last 100 years - imagine another 10,000.

Before you finalize your answers - the latest theories of physics include the influence of consciousness on reality and
ascertain the existence of an infinite number of parallel universes.
If a hard science embraces such profound concepts...
Can we really doubt the possibility of anything?

2/7/07

Scott's Diet:
1) Eat a little less than you normally would.
1a) Ensure the food you eat is truly rich in nutrition.
2) Work out a little more than you normally would.
3) Drink a little more water than you usually would.

4) Most importantly: Be Patient and Stick to it.

To get ahead...
It's not what you know.
It's not who you know.
More and more I am beginning to believe that it is these things plus a group of
other variables so large that the outcome approaches pure randomness.

The only things that really seem to have a slightly greater effect on your movement through life
Are your level of self respect, your drive, your readiness and your level of expectation.

The reasons many of us attribute to our successes or failures...
are merely illusions.

In college I read of an experiment where a bird was fed at random intervals.
After some time the bird had developed many strange quirks.
This was due to the fact that it attributed the release of food to whatever
action it was performing (no matter how strange) just prior to the release of food.

How often are we guided by such incorrect correlations?

We are living in the future - realize the comforts and enjoy them.

Why is it that people who feel that they are always right
Are so often so very wrong about me.

Many people succumb to those with false confidence
Those who's confidence lies in the fact that they have not yet been tested
True confidence is the kind you still have after you fail
The kind where you get up after taking a beating like you've never before seen
with the knowledge that you will still ultimately succeed

Retired people know when the next teller becomes available -
long before anyone else in the bank.
(But who sees the inside of a bank anymore)

Maybe if speed limits were increased above 100 mph,
people would actually pay attention when they drive

Nice guys don't finish last - it's just a matter of distinguishing between nice and weak.
I'm the kind of nice guy who does things that your "bad boys" are too weak or too afraid to do.

The grass is always greener on the other side
Because grass always looks green from a distance
You don't always see the brown spots until you get closer, but they're there
Look for the grass that's the type of green where you don't mind the brown spots

I would rather part prematurely with a few fond memories...
than be left with the haunting disappointment of what could have been

Many of us use fantasy to escape from our reality
Movies, video and computer games, books
Many use drugs to distort and / or attempt to enhance their lives
But trees and children grow all by themselves
When I flick a switch, the room lights up
Thunderstorms, rainbows, earthquakes, pirates, mountain ranges
We live in a world full of magic
Sometimes we just take the true fantasy...   for granted

When the new puppy, the new car, the plastic surgery, the college degree...
the new house, the jewelry, the new job, the two week vacation...
weren't what you really needed -
they only serve to distract you, restrain you, block you
from figuring out and attaining what you really did need.

The most valuable things in my life
Can't be bought or sold -
A twisted moss covered branch I found
A half second when the curves of a girl's body achieve some temporary magical perfection
When a friend laughs more than they have in a long time at some small thing I've said
An expanse of open field that seems to go on forever, but at the same time is connecting with me
When I make a difference
And when I remember those who inspired, shaped and influenced me

Success to me is the ability to do what you want when you want and with who you want
Many people today who see themselves as successful
are merely mimicking the successful lives of people from the past.
There is much to be said about modeling aspects of your life after those you admire and respect,
But then there's also the possibility of being nothing but a cheap copy, a duplicate, redundant.

Why are there no huge mammalian predators on land?  Or herbivores bigger than elephants or giraffes?
I thought perhaps it was the Sauropods that caused the size of T-rex, but some Hadrosaurs were also T-rex size

Is the ratio in size of Lion to Elephant (or Cow) similar to the ratio of T-Rex to Sauropod (or Hadrosaur)?

Are there large missing pieces of the Mammalian fossil record?
I would guess though, that all the known fossilized species probably make up one half of one percent at most.

I thought we were supposed to be a nation of tolerance, attempting to be void of discrimination
and yet everywhere I go, I am asked about my race, religion, sex, age, height and weight

Who cares?
In a truly equal state, these things should not matter to anyone.

I lost my license somewhere the other day
I hadn't realized how often we are asked to show identification these days

I guess it's like stubbing your toe - once you hit it, you feel like you hit it into everything

I thought we had freedom of speech and religion in this country.
It seems we are being bullied out of both of them.
And you know what they say about bullies.

I was sitting in my car in the parking lot of my college in Orlando during my freshman year
jotting down notes on a reality theory I had
One where an infinite number of what I called reality strings existed
each slightly different from the next by only an infinitesimal amount and all already complete

I liked the idea because it removed the time paradox
i.e. - if you went back in time and changed something, you wouldn't affect the future,
because you would already be in a reality string that expected you to go back and change something - it was already done

My idea was that our consciousness traveled along one string until we decided to jump to a new one
All strings were fixed from beginning to end (time is a dimension) like fate
Our freedom of choice was exerted when we decided to shift from one string to another
This was why thinking about something often helped actualize it and trying hard in life often lead to frustration
Your thoughts (not your actions) would focus your shift and the more you could free your mind, the more radical your shift could be

Realities closest in nature are easiest to shift between and long journeys come from removing fear and from acceptance of extreme concepts
Our real lives then exist across many universes and many times and places
if you could see your journey (your true body through time and dimension), you would appear as a very complex being.

It is possible for your consciousness to shift prior to a death in that string.
What we call death would cause an automatic shift from the string you were on.
Those in the string experience the death of "you" even though your consciousness has left to live on.
It's also possible that there were no conscious entities in the string, then no one would have witnessed anything.
Soul mates are when two consciousnesses happen to inhabit the same string at the same instant along with other bonds
Paranormal events are possibly residual memories from other time strings or just inter-universal harmonics
Heaven is when you truly realize and accept the true nature of being, hell is when you try to fight a destiny instead of just shifting

It was 1983

Who knows if I was right or not, who knows if anyone is right in their beliefs, we could all be wrong, would it really matter?
Every thing you've ever thought and ever "known" was perceived from within the framework you have come to know as reality (whatever that really is)

Before you say "that's ridiculous", I ask you - what is your basis for comparison, can you really know anything for certain?
What really surprises me sometimes is how sure people are about their beliefs -
When most of their beliefs really weren't theirs in the first place.
Before you decide to follow a belief system or a specific religion, why not think about it all yourself first?

What we consider reality is really a completely internal phenomenon anyway.
It's a set of models created by each of our minds to represent and interpret stimuli we receive.
